Michele Bachmann's Unforced Error

TPVtv breaks down wingnut Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann's fall from grace:

Republican Former Minn. Governor Endorses Obama

The flood of Obamacons continues unabated:

Arne Carlson, a former Republican governor in Minnesota, has endorsed Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.

Carlson said Thursday that the Illinois senator's stances on the Iraq war, the economy and green energy goals won him over. Carlson, who served from 1991 to 1998, also cited recent comments by GOP Congresswoman Michele Bachmann questioning whether politicians have "pro-America or anti-America views."

"Regardless of our party, regardless of our partisan inclinations, there is no interest more compelling than the interest in the well-being of the United States," Carlson said at a gathering of Obama supporters at the state Capitol.

Carlson added, "He has laid out for this nation a vision for a national purpose."

Fight Michele Bachmann, Donate to Tinklenberg

First-term Minnesota Republican Representative Michele Bachmann has been in hot water lately for explicitly calling for a McCarthy-esque inquisition into which members of Congress are "pro-America" or "anti-America".

Since she made her indefensible comments over the weekend, the Democrat challenging her for her House seat, El Tinklenberg, has experienced a flood of donations -- garnering nearly $1 million in four days. I dug into my wallet and added $100 to the mix yesterday. I suggest you do the same.

Here's an ad that El Tinklenberg's new flood of cash is helping pay for:

Palin = Fargo's Marge Gunderson - Video

Conservative Rob Dreher points out an eerily apt comparison between Sarah Palin's contrived folksiness of last night with Fargo's Chief Marge Gunderson:

Palin's folksy "you betcha" demeanor undermined confidence in her ability to handle a serious crisis. It brought to mind police chief Marge Gunderson in the great film "Fargo," and it irritated me. I thought: "This is heavy stuff, stop it with the welcome-wagon shtick."

Having said that, Sheriff Marge was the hero of "Fargo," and her you-betchaness concealed her fundamental seriousness, while at the same time telegraphing a foursquare simplicity that, in the end, revealed the greatness of her character. Perhaps it does with Palin as well.

This fake McCain campaign ad starring Palin Gunderson is hilarious:

* Rasmussen shows Obama leading McCain in Minnesota by 10, 52% to 34%.

Obama Beats McCain in 4 More Key States

McCain is really in for a spanking. Here are the results from new polls in 4 key battleground states:

COLORADO: Obama 49 - McCain 44
MICHIGAN: Obama 48 - McCain 42
MINNESOTA: Obama 54 - McCain 37
WISCONSIN: Obama 52 - McCain 39

Also, Obama leads by a whopping 9-21% with independent voters:

COLORADO: 51 – 39 percent among independent voters;
MICHIGAN: 46 – 38 percent among independents;
MINNESOTA: 54 – 33 percent with independents;
WISCONSIN: 50 – 37 percent with independents.

Ambinder says:
[T]he make-up and mood of the 2008 presidential electorate is right now perfectly trimmed to embrace Barack Obama. As Quinnipiac puts it, "[a]n emerging Democratic coalition of women, minorities and younger voters is propelling Illinois Sen. Barack Obama to leads."

DNC Member Nancy Larson Endorses Obama

From the AP:

One of Minnesota's last uncommitted Democratic superdelegates is backing Barack Obama, the Obama campaign announced Sunday.

Nancy Larson, of Dassel, a Democratic National Committee member, told The Associated Press she decided to support Obama because his campaign will bring new people into the political process, and she believes he has the best chance of winning in November.

"It's looking more and more that the one person who can do it is Barack Obama," Larson said.

Super Tuesday Live Blog

12:40: One last bit. 13 states for Obama: Missouri, Alaska, Colorado, Idaho, Minnesota, Connecticut, Kansas, Illinois, Alabama, Delaware, Utah, North Dakota and Georgia.

12:30: I'm done for the night. Here's a quote from Andrew Sullivan: "[Obama's] speech - just so glaringly, embarrassingly, surpassingly superior to his opponent's - has a theme of national unity and an end to identity politics. He actually rebukes voting on the basis of race whereas Clinton championed her role as a woman in politics. That's the difference." Read more.

12:15: 12 states for Obama, a majority of the states voting on Super Tuesday: Alaska, Colorado, Idaho, Minnesota, Connecticut, Kansas, Illinois, Alabama, Delaware, Utah, North Dakota and Georgia.

11:55: 11 states now in the Obama camp (1/2 of the Super Tuesday States!) Colorado, Idaho, Minnesota, Connecticut, Kansas, Illinois, Alabama, Delaware, Utah, North Dakota and Georgia.

10:57 - 10 states now for Obama. Idaho, Minnesota, Connecticut, Kansas, Illinois, Alabama, Delaware, Utah, North Dakota and Georgia.

10:55 - Up to 9 states: Minnesota, Connecticut, Kansas, Illinois, Alabama, Delaware, Utah, North Dakota and Georgia.

10:22 - Good sign! Now 8 states! Obama has Connecticut, Kansas, Illinois, Alabama, Delaware, Utah, North Dakota and Georgia.

10:18 - Seven States! Obama has Kansas, Illinois, Alabama, Delaware, Utah, North Dakota and Georgia.

10:06 - Obama now has Illinois, Alabama, Delaware, Utah, North Dakota and Georgia.

9:54 - I love that the Clinton camp is successfully spinning that Massachusetts is a "big win" for them. The Kennedys were brought in to broaden Obama's national appeal among working class people. There wasn't much of a chance of Obama to win Mass but, there goes the Clinton camp spinning it like they triumphed over the Kennedy endorsements. I'm more than a bit melancholy right now. If Hillary ultimately triumphs in this primary, I give up. I will never care about politics again.

9:26 - Alabama is in. Obama now has Alabama, Delaware, Illinois and Georgia.

9:04 - Obama wins Delaware, adding to his wins today in Illinois, Georgia, and Indonesia :)

9:00 - Top of the hour and no more projections for Obama! Grr.

8:51 - Wolf definitely says "pre-jected" rather than "projected" (with a schwa). Just flipped to Bill Richardson pontificating. He's a got a new beard after he dropped out. Unfortunately the five-lb jowl is not working with the beard.

8:47 - Ok, so I'm biased but yawn! I wish I had something interesting to say but the last near-hour has been all about Republican theorizing.

8:33 - Is it me or does Wolf Blitzer pronounce "projected" as "pre-jected"? Tsk.

8:30 - Nothing more terribly interesting going on yet. McCain... Huckabee... yawn.

8:00 - Just got in from work. Here are the states Obama's won thus far: Illinois, Georgia, and Indonesia :)
