McCain/Palin Campaign Lolcat

For some reason, an image like this kept coming to mind today when reading all of the mock outrage spewed by the McCain campaign when responding to any valid media vetting of his VP pick (someone had to do it, considering that McCain didn't):

Gallup: Obama Hits 50% For First Time

Not a bad bounce, if I do say so myself. Obama is up on John McCain by 8%, hitting 50% for the first time in the head-to-head contest to McCain's 42%:

Tigh/Roslin 2008

This is pretty funny stuff that may only resonate with fellow fans of the new Battlestar Galactica Series. I have to say that the resemblances are uncanny:

Ben Smith notes:

Fans of the Sci-Fi show Battlestar Galactica have previously noted that John McCain looks like Colonel Saul Tigh -- a temperamental war hawk and ex-fighter pilot , who also happens to be a former P.O.W.

And, as Jonathan Last notes, Sarah Palin looks like a young President Laura Roslin -- the former Secretary of Education who became president of the human race out of nowhere after the robotic Cylons killed almost all of them in a surprise nuclear strike.

In season one, the remaining 40,000 or so human beings worry about her inexperience, her open religiosity, and her choice to ban abortion in order to keep mankind alive.

Desperate FL Republicans Evoke 9/11

This is truly beyond the pale. Some republican group in Florida evokes 9/11 with the following billboard. Truly tasteless.

Here is the contact information for the shameless slimeball who commissioned the billboard:

Face of the Day

From Andrew Sullivan:

A young girl cries while listening to a speech by US Democratic presidential candidate, Illinois Senator Barack Obama during a rally to officially kick off the general election campaign on June 05, 2008 at the Nissan Pavillion in Bristow, Virginia.

Economist: Clinton to Blame for Republican Victory

The Economist has a must-read editorial on how the Clinton campaign's recent policy of slash-and-burn tactics will likely lead to a Republican candidate in the upcoming general election having a significant chance to win!

The Clintonians like to describe their bosses as complementary figures who act as “force multipliers”. But in the 1990s what actually got multiplied was confusion... All this will be material for the Republican attack machine. By most reckonings the Republicans should be doomed. But the Clintons' tactics are alienating blacks and young people. The Clintons are in the process of doing the impossible: making the 2008 election a referendum on them, rather than on the Republicans. And the Republicans are inching towards nominating their one candidate, Mr McCain, who has broad popular appeal. If what ought to be a stroll in the park in November becomes a real fight, then the Democrats will know who to blame.

Obama Climbs in Arizona Polls

Obama is on the rise in Arizona:
