75,000 Oregonians say "Yes, We Can"

I am so proud of my home state (where my sister just gave birth to my darling new niece, Madelyn Mey). Barack Obama drew a record crowd of 75,000 to his rally on the waterfront in Portland.

As the Washington Post described it:
The sea of heads stretches for half a mile along the grassy embankment, while others watch from kayaks and power boats bobbing on the Willamette River. More hug the rails of the steel bridge that stretches across the water and crowds are even watching from jetties on the opposite shore.

Here's a video to show you the mind-boggling number of people that turned out:

Update: Here's More, which includes parts of his speech:

Yes, way to go Oregon! In the Washington State caucuses, Obama won with 68% of the vote. I would love to see Oregon beat Washington in that regard (words I never thought I would ever say!). I would be thrilled to see 69%, 70% or higher come in for Barack!

BTW Michelle Obama's brother, Craig Robinson was recently hired to take over the Oregon State Men's Basketball program. If Barack can unite Beavers, Ducks, and Huskies (unite with us our Coug bretheren!) in a common cause, I think he could have Middle East peace figured out by February 1, 2009! As the OSU basketball team was 0-18 in the Pac 10 last year, my son wondered who was taking on the more difficult job?

One final BTW. The link I posted yesterday for speech in Portland went inactive very quickly. This is my favorite shot of the speech along the banks of the Willamette:

Its higher resolution too and makes a better wallpaper file.
